Want visitors to be able to call you directly from your website? You can add a click-to-call button to any Wisepops campaign — bar, popup, embed, or notification — with no code required. When a visitor taps the button on mobile, their phone will automatically prompt them to dial your number.
This is different from a phone number capture form. Here, you're displaying your number so visitors can reach you instantly — ideal for customer support, sales, or local businesses.
How it works
The trick is to use a tel: link as the button URL. When clicked:
On mobile: the phone app opens automatically with your number pre-dialed — one tap to call.
On desktop: the browser may open a compatible app (Skype, FaceTime, etc.) depending on the visitor's system.
Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Open your campaign in the Wisepops editor
Create a new campaign or open an existing one. This works with any campaign format: popup, bar, embed, or notification.
Step 2: Add a Button block
In the left panel, click Blocks and drag a Button block into your design. You can also add the link to an image or text block.
Step 3: Set the button label
Give your button a clear, action-oriented label such as:
📞 Call us now
Speak to an advisor
+1 (800) 123-4567
Step 4: Add the tel: link
In the button settings, set the action to Go to URL and enter your phone number in the following format:
tel:+18001234567
Use the international format: country code first, no spaces or dashes.
Step 5: Save and publish
Save your campaign and publish it. Your click-to-call button is now live!
Tips to get the most out of it
Mobile-first targeting: Click-to-call works best on mobile. Target your campaign to mobile visitors only via Display Rules > Audience > Device.
Respect opening hours: Use the Scheduling feature to show the campaign only during business hours — so visitors don't try to call when no one is available.
Track clicks: Enable the Track click option on the button to measure how many visitors tapped it in your Wisepops analytics.
Choose the right format: A sticky bottom bar works great for persistent visibility. An embed is ideal for a dedicated contact or support page. A popup can be triggered on exit intent for high-intent visitors.
