Validating contacts in your campaigns
Validating contacts in your campaigns
Updated over a month ago

Want to avoid duplicate signups and keep your contact list clean? Our contact validation feature has got you covered! Here's how it works:

What does contact validation do?

When you create a campaign with a signup form, you can prevent people from submitting contact info that's already in your database. This helps you:

  • Avoid collecting duplicate contacts

  • Prevent visitors from participating multiple times in the same campaign (like spin-to-wins)

Keep in mind: Visitors can still submit different email addresses or even fake ones if you don't use Double-Opt-in. So while this feature is helpful, it's not foolproof for preventing repeat participants.

How to set up contact validation

  1. Choose your validation method

When setting up your signup form, you'll see checkboxes for "Block existing emails" and "Block existing phones". You can choose one or both, depending on what info you're collecting.

  2. Set your validation scope

Decide whether to check for duplicates:

    1. Only within the current campaign

    2. Across all your Wisepops campaigns for this website

  3. Customize the error message

Create a friendly message to display when someone tries to submit a duplicate contact.

What visitors will experience

If someone tries to submit an email or phone number that's already in your database:

  • They'll see your custom error message at the top of the popup

  • Instead of moving to the next step or success action, they'll stay on the current form

Pro tip: Use this feature to create exclusive experiences for new subscribers while gently turning away repeat submissions!
