When activating an integration in Wisepops, you might encounter an error message indicating missing required fields. This happens when your email marketing platform requires specific information for each contact, beyond just their email address.

Why this happens

Your email marketing platform (like MailChimp, Klaviyo, etc.) may have mandatory fields that must be filled for each new subscriber. If these required fields are missing when Wisepops tries to sync a contact, the integration will fail.

Example scenario

Let's take MailChimp as an example:

  1. Your MailChimp list requires both a first name and gender for each subscriber

  2. If you try to sync contacts from Wisepops without these fields, MailChimp will reject them

  3. This results in failed synchronization and lost subscribers

How to Fix This

  1. Check your email platform's required fields:

    • Log into your email marketing platform

    • Navigate to your subscriber list settings

    • Review the mandatory fields (often marked with an asterisk *)

  2. Set up matching fields in Wisepops:

    • Go to your Wisepops integration settings

    • Add new form fields that correspond to the required fields

    • Map these fields to their equivalents in your email platform

    • Ensure these fields are properly marked as required in your popup form
