It's normal for numbers in Wisepops to look different from what you see in Google Analytics, Shopify, or other tracking tools. Here's why, and what you can do about it.
1. Different time zones
Wisepops reports all data in UTC. If Google Analytics or Shopify uses a local time zone, the same events can fall on different dates, especially around midnight.
Compare the same UTC date ranges when cross-referencing data.
In Google Analytics 4, check your time zone under Admin → Property details.
2. Ad blockers and privacy tools
Ad blockers, VPNs, and browser privacy settings can stop tracking scripts from loading. A visitor blocked in one tool may still appear in the other.
Both Wisepops and Google Analytics can be blocked, so neither gives a 100% complete picture.
Google Analytics is often affected more heavily, so it can under-report traffic compared to Wisepops.
3. Bot traffic
Wisepops has minimal bot filtering by default, while Google Analytics filters out known bots. This can make Wisepops pageviews higher than GA's.
4. Clicks are counted differently
Wisepops counts one click per visitor per campaign, even if the visitor clicks several times. With our Google Analytics integration, GA receives a click event each time a link is clicked, so GA click numbers are usually higher.
5. Conversion attribution works differently
Wisepops attributes a conversion to a campaign when a visitor clicks a tracked CTA and then converts within your attribution window (default: 5 days, or the same session if you choose session-based). Shopify or GA may credit the same sale to another channel, like email or paid ads, based on their own attribution model.
If a visitor clicks several campaigns, only the last one clicked gets the conversion.
For Shopify stores, Wisepops attributed revenue is calculated net of discounts.
Check your attribution window in your goal configuration.
Make sure your CTA buttons are set as tracked. Untracked clicks don't trigger attribution.
6. Data refresh rates
The Wisepops dashboard updates every few minutes. Experiment (A/B test) results refresh daily. If you're comparing data in real time, allow up to 24 hours for reports to align.
